Get to know Ms. Mount

I am proud to serve as the Preschool Program Administrator for Waukee Community School District.  I have had the pleasure of serving in this role for five years and look forward to many more!  Prior to serving Waukee’s youngest learners, I was the building principal at Walnut Hills Elementary, an assistant principal in Waukee, and taught special education for ten years.

Growing up in Minnesota, I graduated from Bloomington Jefferson High School.  I attended Buena Vista University in Storm Lake, Iowa where I received my Bachelor’s in Elementary and Special Education.  I taught special education in Storm Lake, Shakopee, West Des Moines, and Waukee.  After moving back to the Des Moines area, I attended Drake University and received my Masters’s in Educational Leadership.  I have been a school administrator for fifteen years.

I absolutely love working with our early childhood students, families, and staff.  Being a part of our young students’ initial journey in school brings me such joy.  The staff and families with whom I get to work are incredibly supportive and collaborative and share my same love for early childhood education.
